Why should I choose bamboo flooring over a hardwood floor?
There are many advantages to using bamboo flooring as compared to hardwood flooring. Firstly, bamboo flooring is an environmentally friendly product. The time to maturity for bamboo is much shorter than the decades it takes for hardwood forests to mature. Each year, one "mother tree"
makes several new stems that grow to full length in a few months and to mature hardness in about five years. Secondly, our bamboo flooring has higher hardness, so it is more durable than hardwood flooring. Third, bamboo flooring can be installed using exactly the same tools and methods as hardwood flooring. Hardwood installers and contractors need no additional tools, materials, or training to install bamboo flooring. Additionally, bamboo flooring has better grain and is more elegant and graceful than hardwood flooring, and in most cases is much less expensive.
Why has bamboo flooring recently become more and more popular?
Bamboo flooring is made from a natural resource which is renewable and recyclable. Buildings, barns, ships, and other structures made of bamboo often find a second life in bamboo flooring. As people have become more aware of their impact on the environment, bamboo has emerged as a beautiful, durable, natural floor which is more environmentally friendly than traditional floors. Also, because the bamboo "forest" renews itself after only a few years, less land is required to produce bamboo flooring and it can be offered at a more attractive price than traditional hardwoods, and the type of bamboo used is not part of the panda diet. Finally, bamboo flooring is a good choice for a healthy home as it creates less dust and potentially harmful chemical emissions than many types of flooring.
Why Tianyu bamboo flooring is superior than most of bamboo flooring sold on market?
Most of bamboo flooring has three layers of pressured bamboo. All our bamboo flooring actually begin with careful choice of harvesting bamboo strips, all layers of our flooring are made with the same quality bamboo strips. while most of the competitors cuts costs by using quality bamboo for only the top layer; the bottom two layers are made from low quality bamboo strips. This undermines the stability and integrity of the flooring, especially in the long run.
Why do us only choose Mao bamboo? Isn't all bamboo alike?
There are more than 1,000 species of bamboo worldwide. The Mao species, which often grows to fifty feet in height and two feet in circumference, is mainly found in low mountain areas of Anhui province, where temperature can dip below freezing in the winter and reach over 100F in summer. It is the best for making bamboo flooring and panels.
Although Tropical Zone bamboos are the largest of the bamboo species, their "woody" structure is more grainy than the Mao species, because of the high humidity in there regions, the harvested products tends to be easily susceptible to mold and fungus.
What does "Carbonized" mean?
Carbonization means taking the natural color planks and pressure heating it. This process turns the natural color into brownish color (it is not a stain). The longer it is heated, the darker the sugar compounds in the fiber become. All planks will have a minimal color variation due to bamboo's inherent nature. This will not affect the look but rather enhances the appearance of the flooring.
Can bamboo flooring be stained?
Yes. A professional finisher can stain bamboo that has not already had a urethane applied at the factory. If you want to stain the bamboo, order our unfinished plank. The evenness of the stain will compare to oak and the sanding process is the same.
What about the finish?
Tianyu bamboo flooring pre-finished flooring has 6 coats of Acrylic Urethane, which is a very tough and stain resistant form of urethane. It assures that no air pockets or pinhole over-coating occur during the lacquering process and guarantees the high adhesiveness of the lacquer. When necessary the floor can be easily recoated by applying an additional coat of urethane formulated for floor use. If seriously damaged, the floor can be sanded and refinished up to 3 times depending on the depth of the damage.
Will it cup or delaminate?
